WHAT’S INVOLVED IN ENGINEERING AND TECHNICAL?

With over 45 manufacturing sites in the UK and Ireland, our Engineering and Technical teams maintain the high quality of our products, processes and manufacturing lines.

Our Technical teams help to ensure that the raw materials used in our manufacturing processes are up to specification, they approve new materials and work to maintain and improve the quality of our product range. Our Engineering teams maintain production at our manufacturing plants, some of which operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They oversee and co-ordinate the production process, monitoring the production lines and performing routine and reactive maintenance to keep our plants going.

Typically our Engineering and Technical colleagues are based in our manufacturing plants, mines or production sites, such as the Saint-Gobain Glass manufacturing plant in East Yorkshire, or the British Gypsum plasterboard manufacturing plant and mine in Nottinghamshire. We also have colleagues based in our various offices across the UK and always aim to work flexibly in terms of location, hours and days of working.

With a huge variety of roles in Engineering and Technical across 23 of our brands, we strongly encourage career mobility at Saint-Gobain, with many of our colleagues progressing their careers across multiple brands and functions. EMBRACING DIVERSITY

We’re continuously working to become a more diverse and inclusive employer. We believe that diversity fosters innovation, helping our teams to operate productively and make better decisions, as well as creating a more enjoyable work environment for our employees.

We already employ many fantastic people from diverse backgrounds, but still want to do more. We’re keen to hire talented people regardless of their background, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender, taste in music, fashion sense, or anything else that makes you, you.

FIND OUT MORE FROM OUR COLLEAGUES

Meet some of our colleagues to learn more about their careers in Engineering at Technical at Saint-Gobain.

I joined Saint-Gobain Research (SGR) Paris in 2006 as an industrial placement student. Following my PhD completion, I then became a Research & Development Engineer in SGR Paris in 2010, working mainly for our glass businesses. In 2013, I moved to Saint-Gobain’s Gypsum central operations team and took the exciting role of a Process Engineer supporting plaster and plasterboard plants worldwide. Finally, I relocated to the UK and joined British Gypsum in 2016, being responsible for the process of the Stucco Preparation Area, and more recently moving and becoming responsible for the process of the Board Plant Area.
