Apprenticeships

So why do an apprenticeship at Saint-Gobain?

Here at Saint-Gobain, our electrical and mechanical apprenticeship programme is running for over 50 years. The Saint Gobain programme, in partnership with SOLAS, affords the opportunity to pursue a career in mechanical or electrical technician roles.

WHO CAN APPLY FOR AN APPRENTICESHIP?
Saint Gobain’s apprenticeship programme welcomes cultural diversity and social inclusion. The criteria, as set out by SOLAS, includes the following minimum educational requirements:

  1. Grade D in five subjects in the Department of Education & Skills Junior Certificate Examination or an approved equivalent, or
  2. The successful completion of an approved Pre-Apprenticeship course,
    or
  3. Three years’ work experience gained over sixteen years of age in a relevant designated industrial activity as SOLAS shall deem acceptable.

It should be noted that these are the current approved minimum educational requirements for apprenticeship programmes and are subject to changes as per SOLAS.

So Why Do A Scholarship with Saint Gobain?

The Saint Gobain Scholarship aims to promote diversity and inclusion for underrepresented groups within the field of engineering, science and technology. The programme aims to promote careers in the construction industry as a viable option for third level students.

The following criteria will apply:

  • You must be minimum aged 17 in the year sitting your exams and intend in the year immediately following their Leaving Certificate to pursue a full-time undergraduate programme of three or more years’ (level 7 or level 8) duration in engineering, science or technology related courses, in any publicly funded university or third level institution in Ireland, including Northern Ireland.
  • The course cannot be focused practitioner type courses e.g. dentistry, veterinarian, nursing, medicine etc., general courses only.
  • Must be sitting exams in a relevant subject matter such as: Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Physics and Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, Agricultural Science, Design and Communication Graphics, Technology.
  • Applications are open to all students who meet the above criteria.
